Yellowwood is a medium-sized tree, reaching 50 feet in height. Flowers are in clusters, white, very fragrant, and good for honey. It makes an excellent landscaping tree, but is underused. Bark is smooth and gray, like American Beech. Heartwood is yellowish when first cut. Its known natural occurrence in Indiana is limited to Brown County, but it is hardy into Minnesota.
