Waterlocust is a medium tree to 50 feet in height that prefers frequently inundated river bottoms and swamps. It has compound leaves 6-8 inches long consisting of 12-20 leaflets. Its fruit is flat, oval to round, containing 1-3 seeds, and 1-3 inches long by 1 inch thick. It has a thorn similar to its relative, the Honeylocust. In Indiana, it is found in the southwestern counties. |
