Infrequent in Indiana, Swamp Cottonwood grows on sites too wet for other poplars, usually in swamps. Leaves are fairly large in size, comparable to the leaves of Bigtooth Aspen, and have rounded, rather than flattened, petioles, or leaf stalks.
