Sourwood is primarily a tree of the upland forests of the southeast. It naturally occurs very rarely in Indiana, and then only in a few counties in the south. It is sometimes called Lily-of-the-Valley Tree due to the look of its early summer flower clusters. A small to medium-sized pyramidal tree, excellent for landscaping. Fall color is multi-hued and brilliant. It is an important nectar tree for bees in some areas.
