Pyramidal when young, Black Tupelo is a fine landscape tree with outstanding fall color. It is an excellent source of nectar for bees. Fruits are very sour, but are nutritious and eaten by many birds and animals. They are common trees in southern Indiana, but are found only infrequently in northern Indiana.
