Seeds are smooth and dark brown with a large tan attachment scar, the whole seed resembling an eye. Husk or cover of seed is smooth, but seed is otherwise like Ohio Buckeye. Buckeyes are some of the first trees to leaf out in spring. Large flower clusters range from deep yellow to reddish-purple. In Indiana, the natural range of Yellow Buckeye is only along the Ohio River.
