Green Hawthorn is a small tree 20-35 feet in height with sharp, stiff thorns that prefers moist, fertile soil in full sun. It has white flowers in early spring and attractive purplish red fall color. The fruits, which are enjoyed by a wide variety of wildlife, are a bright red and persist into winter. Birds can safely nest within their nearly impenetrable, dense crown.
